The consumption of ai /food in the Lua traditions is an integral aspect of the art form. It is akin to physical exercise and training of the body, emotions, and spiritual being. It is imperative to consume high-quality ai that will nourish and sustain one's kino for years to come. Traditional staple foods of our tupuna, such as kalo, ulu, uala, and ka ulu wehi o ka aina, are always a healthy choice. The root cause of all health issues can be traced back to the ōpū. Poor food choices and overeating can lead to health complications. Drinking wai with food can hinder the digestive process, and it is recommended that the ōpū aiai be empty for 10 to 12 hours at a time, allowing for meals in the morning and evening.
Cancer cells are a natural part of the cellular process, but they feed off the nutrients of food like all other cells. By limiting the availability of food, these cells will die and cannot overrun the host's body. Drinking ice-cold wai is not recommended as it can constrict the blood in the ōpū and cause caloric buildup of oils and fats in the tissue and organs.
Consuming heavy meals and fried foods can lead to a slow metabolism, low blood flow, and other health issues. It is recommended to avoid saturated oils, mayonnaise, olive oil, coconut oil, and avocado oil. Cooking with the fat of the chicken or meat is a healthier alternative. Only wai should be consumed, and it is recommended to drink tap water as it contains beneficial minerals. Bottled or purified wai should be avoided as the purification process removes beneficial minerals, leaving the water "dead" and potentially causing harm to the body.
It is important to cut out junk food, limit food consumption to one or two meals a day with no snacks in between, and avoid eating three hours before sleep. By following these guidelines, one can promote overall health and well-being.
